The area becomes a hive of activity and excitement during these times as athletes and supporters flock here from all over the countryside.
There are a wide range of accommodation options available to visitors in this area. From camping to forest huts and self-catering units, a hotel and many more. The deep gorges, rugged coastline, indigenous forest and an abundance of fynbos, lends itself to a diverse selection of recreational and adventure activities to suit all levels of fitness. Some of the activities alongside hiking is abseiling, scuba-diving, boat rides and paddling. These tourists can experience on their own, or with the help of some of the excellent tour operators in the village.
The Tsitsikamma National Park is South Africa’s oldest and largest marine reserve, which makes it a safe place for dolphins to frolic in the waves and the Southern Right whale to breed. The protected coastline, fynbos and forests stretch over a 5km area to the sea.
